NeoNote — No sane reason

Take a look at at the bureaucrats who have real power. The ones who don't go anywhere except to other government jobs.

You tell me, do they have a working knowledge of how government works? Do they exploit voters?

Of course it's my opinion. It's also based on some careful observation and not just mine.

Government is not your friend. Government should not be the first, best, and last way to do things.

It's no accident that America's greatest advances socially, culturally, and technologically have come in areas with the least government regulation and involvement. If you don't believe me, compare the price drop of plastic surgery over the last 75 years with the price of a kidney machine session.

People can do most things on their own without government help, direction, or control.

Capitalism and the free market have done more to push human advancement and raise people out of poverty than anything else in human history. Right now the world poverty level is at record lows.

A free market has two premises, The first is the mutual exchange of goods and services between consenting adults. The second is that someone will look at what's happening at say "I can do better than THAT!" Most will fail, some spectacularly. But the ones who succeed will change everything.

The free market means competition. To keep business, a company has to provide more, better, cheaper, and faster than the competition. Over time, that means better, more available, and cheaper.

All without government action.

The default of government is more government and less freedom. Without direct action, there are more laws, more taxes, more regulations, and more penalties.

There's no sane reason to support that unless your goal is to get rid of freedom.

I'm not an anarchist. I'm me, I need be nothing more.

Do away with government benefits and most of the border problems would solve themselves. These problems are literally created, maintained, and expanded by government.

There is nothing in the Constitution that gives the Federal government the power to make drugs illegal. What's more, the "drug war" has caused far more problems that drug addiction. Starting with destabilizing nations and moving on from there. There are also things like mandatory sentencing, civil asset forfeiture, and the explosive growth in prisons. And then there's the militarization of police.

Feel any safer yet?

That's the thing, no matter what government does, it's solution is always more. More power, more taxes, more law, more regulation, it could solve everything if citizens just gave up more and kept quiet.

Not that it should matter, but I live in a border state. And I have seen borders and narcotics regulation abused by authorities, so much so that anyone questioning will be targeted.

And no, I don't use. I don't even drink.

As far as vast parts, we could start with the fact that it's almost impossible to get elected without approval from one of the parties.

Libertarianism doesn't try to regulate moral behavior. Conservatism does.

Your assumption is that government is good because it controls people.

I think people can do for themselves.
