Immoral law

Gotcha rights right here. But the politicos want to take them away

One of my biggest search items has been morality and the law, which turns up this page on the site. Just to make things interesting, I thought I would define three classes of laws which are nearly always immoral, no matter what the intentions.

The first are laws that grant exemptions or benefits to a specific group of people, but not to everyone. This pretty much covers everything from affirmative action to corporate welfare.

Second are the laws that impose a moral code on everyone, regardless if people share that code or not. I would grant one narrow exception, laws that protect property and people's persons from measurable harm. No murder or theft or initiating force against another. Most of the laws that regulate personal behavior fall into this category.

Finally are the laws that assume that government knows better than you. This covers the laws where government claims to protect your rights but takes away your freedom. Campaign finance reform and the Medicare drug program are included here.

And as the nice folks at The Bill of Rights Committee will tell you, strictly enforcing the Bill of Rights will eliminate these immoral laws.

Nice and simple. It's not a perfect solution, but it beats dealing with the hyrdra we have now.
