Atheism means superior morality?

Dogma is dogma

Scott Adams suggests that an atheist might make a better president.

Specifically Bill Gates.

I've said before that I do not think a person has special virtue because of their belief. Morality has to do with action, not stated belief.

Don't tell me that an atheist is more charitable and more open-minded. That is the same stuff I get from True Believers™ all the time.

Show me.

If I don't buy that a Christian has a higher morality just because they are Christian, I certainly won't accept that an atheist is a better person just because they are an atheist.

How do they manifest their beliefs? Actions tell me more than words ever could.

I am not sure where the contempt that some atheists have for those of us who believe in the Divine. We can argue if that is justified or not. That would waste time, and we won't convince anyone who isn't inclined to believe. Rationality can't be defined by belief and atheism is just as much a belief structure as any religion.

Now, Bill Gates isn't exactly a moral paragon, atheist or not. And he certainly does not support the free market. Success in business doesn't guarantee honor, and it certainly doesn't mean ethics are involved.

An atheist President? Why not?

An atheist President means a more rational thinker? Unproven, depends on the individual and not the belief.

Bill Gates is trustworthy and rational? Not even.
