I'm not surprised by this transvestite gang in New Orleans ripping off
shopkeepers.
No, the surprising bit was this quote. “The city’s not functioning the way it was and I’m sure a lot of them were getting some kind of government aid, which they probably aren’t getting any more so they’re incredibly desperate,” Ogle said. It's government's fault for not paying off the gang members. I can think of no better illustration of the futility of nanny statism. The shopkeepers have to defend themselves, police are unable to stop the gang, and it's government's fault for not bribing the criminals.
