Dealing with IslamismAfter a few days, I cop out and go with
the short and simple
I've been trying to write this one for a couple
of days now. It keeps coming off as
preachy.
So I will stop dragging it out. When it comes to dealing with Islamists (NOT Muslims in general), the usual methods of diplomacy don't work. Cooperation, compromise, tolerance, all are seen as weakness and invitation to attack. Unfortunately, Islamism is based on an either/or, rule or submit. Until they find another way and choose it, there is not really a lot we can do, other than restraining the worst offenders. Cartoons, what the Pope says, the pronouncements of politicians, these are not the reasons for Islamist indignation, they are the excuses.
