Remembering Waco

When the government attacks

Thirteen years ago today, 74 people died in a fire set by the FBI, with support from the ATF and the U.S. military.

Regardless of what you think David Koresh's actions and beliefs, it's impossible to justify the 51 day siege and the massacre that followed.

There is evidence that the Waco massacre convinced Timothy McVeigh that the Federal government had to be stopped.

Despite the conflicting stories from the government, it seems that the only real reason the Waco compound was surrounded was because the people there practiced an unpopular religion. Internal investigations by the FBI found no evidence of either drugs or weapons violations, which the FBI should not have been investigating anyway.

The degree of military support remains a mystery, although at the time by law the U.S. Army could only support law enforcement in drug cases.

The FBI agents were cleared of all charges.

Remember, this was ordered by a Democratic President.

The government attacked it's own citizens, people died, property was destroyed, and no one knows why.
