"I won't serve you" - Updated

Restaurant owner makes a moral choice

It's going to be interesting to see how much and what kind of play this story gets.

The owner of an upscale steakhouse in Louisville said he asked O.J. Simpson to leave his restaurant the night before the Kentucky Derby because he is sickened by the attention Simpson still attracts.

"I didn't want to serve him because of my convictions of what he's done to those families," Jeff Ruby said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "The way he continues to torture the lives of those families ... with his behavior, attitude and conduct."

I salute the guy. One individual choosing not to serve another because of a moral choice. That is part of the free market too.

Voluntary exchange. Still, I expect the race relations crowd to make something of it.

I hope I am wrong.

UPDATE - The news coverage has been fairly light and sporadic so far. Apparently the only one who is playing the race card is Simpson's attorney, who is threatening to go after the restaurant's liquor license. Only one small problem, Ruby used to have a picture of himself and Simpson hanging in the restaurant, he took it down after the Brown/Goldman murders.
