Confirmed - EMI offering music without DRM


They did it because customers demanded it

Well, multiple sources confirmed that EMI is indeed offering music without Digital Rights Management.

No Beetles catalog online yet though.

The iTunes music store will be the first to offer it at a slightly higher price than the DRM music. It also has double the bit rate. Seems like a fair trade though.

Turns out it was EMI's idea, not Apple's.

Frankly I don't care who had the idea, the consumer wins and the company sells more music. Hard to see a downside in that,
