"Gas station owner says state won't let him lower prices"

Ask yourself why is the state government involved in setting prices in the first place

Think the various state governments are concerned about high fuel prices? Think again.

An ethanol-pump owner says he wants to lower his prices but the state won't let him.

Badger Ethanol in Monroe charges around $2.22 for a gallon of E-85, an alcohol-fuel mixture that is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, by volume.

Badger's owners wanted to cut the price to $2 but said they had to artificially hike prices after some competitors complained Badger wasn't meeting the state's minimum markup laws.

Minimum markup laws?

No matter what they promise, no matter what sweet noises they make in election years, it stays the same.

Government is not your friend.

Every single time that a government interferes with the free market, it is the customers who end up taking it in the shorts.

The free market is not perfect. It's messy, undisciplined, uncontrolled, and unpredictable.

Government claims that it is perfect and knows better than you. And all that will cost you is your freedom.

But here is the important difference.

The free market is voluntary. Government control depends on force.
