Massachusetts requires Wal-Mart to stock "morning after" pill

Defying the free market.

This one just seems a little weird to me.

As far as I know, the "morning after" pill is manufactured by only one company, that means that Massachusetts just granted a state wide monopoly.

But a state agency telling a retailer what they must carry, that is just wrong.

That's sort of like mandating that a kosher kitchen serve ham and eggs. Or demanding that a conservative religious bookstore has to carry materials on Tantric sex (granted, for some of the religions I know of that isn't that much of a stretch). Or telling a toy store that they have to sell office furniture.

It's not like the pill was totally unavailable in Massachusetts. And I am curious, do other pharmacies not carry the "morning after" pill? Will they also have to carry it now? Are there any other medications that Massachusetts requires pharmacies to carry?
