What is it worth to you?

How much benefit will the rest of the country see from spending $250 billion dollars in Louisiana?

As I was fiddling with my new obsession, I was thinking about New Orleans.

No businessman worth his salt would loan any money unless they were fairly certain they would get their investment and a little more back. Even if it were a grant instead of a loan, you can be sure that the company intends to get as much value from the grant as they can.

And that got me thinking a little bit more. Extending the business metaphor just a little further, the "management team" in Louisiana failed to deliver. No, they weren't the only ones at fault, but they were the ones on the scene.

If it were a well run company, they would be fired by now.

But of course, it is not a company. It is government service.

Still, there are some questions that should be asked.

If the FedGov pumps 250 billion into Louisiana, what are they going to get for their investment? And I don't mean just paying the money back (although that doesn't seem to be in Louisiana's plan). I mean, are they going to add an additional 25 billion directly into the tax coffers? What is it of value that they are offering?
