A question of styleObviously I'm still looking
Libertarians love to produce long philosophical
screeds. I'm guilty of that myself.
So why don't I do that on this blog? Because nobody reads them. We live in the age of the sound bite and the six hour news cycle, not to mention the internet. I have to get and keep your attention. I can't do that with long rambles on the ethics of freedom and the benefits of the free market. I have to keep it short or most people click away. Even if you have a "winning" formula, you can't afford to stick only to that. One of the most successful restaurant companies I know keeps about 65% of their menu to the things that they know their customers like and then experiments with the rest from week to week. But even the proven stuff has to keep showing it's worth. For example, if I mentioned sex and Megan Fox twenty-seven times in one paragraph, that would definitely get me the search results. But I don't know anything about sex with Megan Fox. I assume that sex with Megan Fox would be fun, but I've no personal experience to back that up. Would sex with Megan Fox be better than say, sex with Brooke Shields? Could be, but I've never had sex with either. Meanwhile, there are plenty of ladies out there that might agree to a bit of seduction so I don't have to resort to dreams of celebrity sex. I'll be experimenting with the format some. But I'll still keep it short and simple. Posted: Sun - April 11, 2010 at 02:24 PM
