DVD break

Watching with my stepdad

I probably should have done an update this morning, but I was lazy and stayed away from the computer.

This afternoon I went over to check on my stepdad after his feeding. Partially out of self defense (so I wouldn't have to answer the same questions I have answered MANY MANY times before), I took a couple of movies that I thought he might enjoy.

That is harder than it sounds, even for a movie buff like me. Even a few months ago, he wouldn't have liked most of my movies.

I finally settled on War Games and Pirates of Silicon Valley. Dad was a ham radio operator for many years and I thought he might relate to the workbenches in each of the films. I guessed right I think.

He saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow a few months back. Wonder if I dare recycle it?

Classic scifi? The Day the Earth Stood Still might fly.

Anything I can do to stimulate those brain cells.

I just got DVDs of James Coburn's Flint movies, but I think Mom would bar me from their house if I brought those over. Talk about misogyny. You know for a period that was supposed to be about freedom, it amazes me how much of the imagery and icons of the 60s and 70s was so anti-woman in it's tone and assumptions.
