When movies get political

Even George Lucas has pointed out that there might be political overtones in his latest Star Wars film

I said it before and I will say it again.

It's just a movie.

Leaving aside Mr. Lucas' personal feelings and political leanings , when he created the first Star Wars film, he borrowed from nearly every myth under the sun (and more than a few under the moon). The films are enjoyable because they have universal appeal, not because they happen to fit the politics of the day.

Even not having seen the film, my take on the "similarities" of the the present day world situation is different than Mr. Lucas. I don't see the story being about the rise of Empire, I think it is more about failure of well intentioned people because they put their faith in process over results.

Again, what you get out of a film is depends on what you take into it
