Sloganeering the war

Turning gravestones into PR

The Pentagon, in it's "unquestioned" wisdom, has ordered slogans on gravestones of fallen servicemen from the Iraqi War. In doing so, they have broken an American military tradition that goes back to the Gettysburg Address and converting Arlington into the first National Cemetery .

In a National Cemetery, you honor the fallen not the battle.

This cheapens the sacrifice and turns it into one more political ploy.

Considering that the Veteran's Administration still hasn't caught up with the idea of religious tolerance on grave markers, I find the whole thing disgusting and extremely unpatriotic.

(Here is the website for the Pagan Veteran Headstone Campaign.)

I don't know whose boneheaded idea this was, but they should be cashiered out.

Honor the warriors, not war.
