Going after Big Oil

Congressional Democrats are drooling

Big Government giveth, Big Government taketh away. Let's get to the quote, shall we?

Senate Democrats have Big Oil in their sights as they consider "a major reversal of energy tax policies that would take billions of dollars in tax breaks and other benefits from the oil industry to underwrite renewable fuels," writes the New York Times. The move comes as Senate Dems are also talking big about raising CAFE fuel economy standards to a fleet average of 35 miles per gallon for all new US automobiles by 2020. We'll see: the oil companies have been in the firing line of Congress periodically for decades and nearly always emerge unscathed.

Whose idea was it to give those "tax breaks and other benefits" in the first place?

If oil companies shouldn't be underwritten, why should renewable fuels?

All this quote really does is show how Democratic Congressmen think that the economy should be under central control.
