Dept of Interior blocks right side of the blogosphere

If the message you agree with can't withstand competition, something is wrong with the message

Ordinarily I would put this in the internet rumor file. But as chance would have it, I do know some people who work at the Department of Interior. Sure enough, it looks like the right side of the blogosphere is being blocked while the left side is wide open.

No word yet on the libertarian sites.

Yesterday the U.S. Department of the Interior installed blocking software on their entire network. Gates of Vienna is now blocked, as are all sites with a .blogspot URL. Also blocked are other conservative blogs, such as Wizbang. More than half the sites I check on a daily basis are now completely blocked. As of today, Little Green Footballs is not blocked, but that’s about the only one I’ve seen that isn’t. There’s not much that can be done, but I just thought I’d let you know. I’ll check later today when I get in to see if the liberal blogs are blocked.

Later it seems that LGF was blocked.

Now it is a little early to be jumping to conclusions. This appears to be politically motivated. I could understand blocking blogs if all blogs were blocked. But just blocking the conservative ones while leaving the modern liberal ones open, well, that is pretty blatant.

When it comes to disputes, I always look for the side that tries to suppress dissent. That is usually the one in the wrong.

If "the truth" has to be protected like some sort of hothouse flower, that says more about "the truth" than it does about dissent.
