The NIE leak

Now that the declassified report is available, judge for yourself

So why didn't I jump all over the "leaked" National Intelligence Estimate?

Just because we've seen this exact same move before in the run up to the 2002 and 2004 elections.

Members of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee have had this report since April.

A little odd that it makes so much noise in election season, isn't it?

Especially since it takes a direct Presidential order to declassify it.

Without access to the full source material, it's all allegations. If I wanted to do some careful pruning, I could turn an excerpt from the average issue of the New York Times into the most anti-American screed ever published.

And all this raises the old question about double standards again. Why isn't it just as important to find out who leaked the NIE report as it was to find out who "outed" Valarie Plame?
