Vanity Fair may have uncovered the Bush killer

Did a Turkish crime syndicate try to bribe lawmakers?

According to this Raw Story article, an FBI translator has been legally gagged from talking about conversations she translated. Ordinarily I wouldn't pay much attention, but in this case the Bush Administration has issued the gag order in the name of "national secrets," which makes me wonder just what is going on.

Apparently Speaker Dennis Hastert was mentioned on the tapes as taking bribes. It's important to note that Mr. Hasetert is not on the tapes himself, just people talking about paying him money.

I really would like to see the Vanity Fair article, and I want to see some followup.

Like I said, given what happened with the supposed Bush National Guard memos and the Downing Street Memos, I would have ignored it except it does look like someone is trying to cover something up.

Hat tip to Radley Balko.
