If this is true...

The New York Times is looking at the adoption records of Judge Roberts' children

I really hope that Drudge got this one wrong.

Short of criminal conduct, I really can't see the reason for this kind of investigation, The children are four and five for crying out loud.

This whole thing crossed a line a while back when some at the Daily Kos started claiming that the four year old was gay. Fortunately they got called on it fairly quickly.

This follows innuendoes that Roberts himself is gay.

Here's my take. Other than reporting on cute kids (or crimminal action against the kids), I see no reason to include the children in any news article, and certainly not in any background check. Roberts sexuality is his own business. If he is keeping his marriage vows to his wife, frankly, we don't need to know more.

While there are those on the left who keep above this nonsense, confining their attention to the briefs that Roberts wrote as an attorney and the opinions he wrote as a judge, this kind of tactic doesn't reflect well on the Democrats, and certainly not well on the New York Times.

I may disagree with including Roberts briefs, but I can at least see the reasoning.
