The funding levels didn't cause flooding after Katrina?

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers tell a different story than what has been sold by our friends on the Left

The Chicago Tribune has a very good article, well worth your time.

That doesn't excuse the whole "here I come to save the day" spouted from various government agencies over the years, but it does put an interesting perspective on it.

In a free market, if a company doesn't deliver what they promised, you buy from someone else. If their incompetence lost you money or business, you sue to recover damages.

Neither remedy works with a government. All you can do is elect the other party, who promises to fix it. That promise is soon broken.

Where does that leave you?

This is a tricky time. The statists are already calling for expanded governmental powers, increased funding, and of course higher taxes to pay for everything.

Senator Hillary Clinton has already called for a 9-11 style commission to investigate. Considering that the actual 9-11 Commission deliberately withheld certain truths from the American people, I can't decide if it is a move on her part to "get Bush" or to hide something. It would be interesting to find out, but I don't trust a government commission to do so.

You can't trust the government to act in your best interests.

I wish I could post that message everywhere.

In the aftermath of 9-11, we got the USAPATRIOT Act, arguably one of the greatest threats to freedom in this nation's history. What will the statists demand we sacrifice after Katrina?

Is it a price you are willing to pay?
