CNN and UPI confirm that LA state officials kept Red Cross out of New Orleans

MSM outlets pick up the same story as Fox News

For our progressive friends who automatically doubt anything and everything that comes from "Faux" News, it seems CNN also reported that the Red Cross was turned away by officials from the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security. UPI also picked up the story.

I can understand the confusion, but that is a state agency, not a Federal one. Here is the website.

The same story had also been available on a FAQ from the national Red Cross website.

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

• Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.
• The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city. (emphasis added)

I know it is tempting to blame the FedGovs for this one, but it was the StateGovs who prevented the Red Cross from entering New Orleans and the Superdome,

Oh, and "Faux" News had the story before CNN. Maybe they aren't always "Faux."
