"They want to be culture dominant"

The fundamental difference

Another interesting article from one of my "home town" papers.

One problem with fundamentalists is that their solution is exclusive of any other solution. In the U.S. it is not limited to Christianity, greens and progressives have their own fundamentalists

I don't think it is an accident that as the U.S. is confronting fundamentalism abroad, we're having to deal with the domestic versions as well.

And that brings us to the point of this post.

If your ideology needs the force of law, it is not freedom.

When it comes to public schools, I know that the battle is over exactly what will be taught. That is a direct result of mandatory schooling. What makes this ironic is that the public school system was in large part set up by evangelical Protestants in reaction to the Catholic schools that already existed.

My answer is simple.

More choices.

Get the government out of the morals business.

Let the free market have it's way.

Let people choose for themselves.

If you don't like the latest blockbuster film, then don't go see it.

If I don't like the "Left Behind" novels, I won't buy them.

You should be free to honor the faith you choose. But under no circumstances should you force that choice on another adult.
