UK destined to be Islamic?Very strange noises from across the
Atlantic
If all other things were equal, I don't suppose
it would matter. But things aren't
equal.
It seems that the more vocal versions of Islam aren't interested in coexistence, they want superiority backed by the force or law. Sadly, it seems like some of those calling the shots are only too willing to submit. DEMANDS for a ban on “un-Islamic” activities in schools will be set out by the Muslim Council of Britain today. Targets include playground games, swimming lessons, school plays, parents’ evenings and even vaccinations. And the calls for all children to be taught in Taliban-style conditions will be launched with the help of a senior Government education adviser. Pay particular attention to this quote from later in the article. And while the MCB insists that all British children should learn about Islam, it wants Muslims to have the right to withdraw their children from RE lessons dealing with Christianity and other faiths. Fortunately this seems to be a minority and reason may yet prevail. But I can't help notice how this looks more like a demand for unconditional surrender rather than an attempt to live together. Worrisome, especially when combined with an article like Is London's future Islamic? which calls for wholesale replacement of the UK's laws and culture with Islam. It seems that when Western civilization is finally ready for power with, others want power over. You can't use power with if the other sides don't have to face consequences of power over. This may well be the defining moment of our culture. Posted: Sat - June 9, 2007 at 02:25 PM
