Rating George BushHe blew his last opportunity and my
reason for supporting him
I voted for George Bush in 2000 because he was
the least objectionable choice.
I supported and voted for him in 2004 because of his foreign policy. Let me explain. A big part of the mess in the Middle East is because the U.S. and other nations spent seventy odd years supporting tyranny and dictators because it was politically expedient to do so. The Soviet Union needed to be contained and almost everything else including liberty had to take a back seat. The American State Department made excuses. We lived with a bad situation. The war in Iraq could have changed that. But now it won't. Ever since Saddam Hussein was toppled, Syria and Iran have done everything short of sending jets and tanks across the border to destabilize Iraq. We know this, we knew this in 2002. And now we have given them a place at the table. There is NO REASON for it. A strong democratic Iraq with a strong economy would have done more to destabilize the Iranian and Syrian governments than anything the United States could have done. There was no reason to negotiate and every reason to wait them out. There are things we could have done years ago, but we didn't. And now things are worse. Bush had the chance for greatness and he blew it. With the exception of one tax cut that is set to expire, his domestic programs have been average to bad. He will be a forgettable President. The sad thing is, he is still a better choice than the 2000 and 2004 Democrat nominees. Posted: Thu - March 1, 2007 at 03:12 PM
