So what about the biggest news story of the day?

Israel gets offensive

Despite all the criticism against Israel for "escalating" hostilities, I don't think if any other nation had it's soldiers kidnapped, missiles fired from a neighboring country, and suicide bombers sneaking over the border, there would be any question about immediate and massive retaliation.

Watch Syria in this one. It's a keystone to the entire Islamist effort, which won't hesitate to sacrifice each and every Palestinian to destroy Israel.

The interesting bit seems to be public opinion. It's not as unified against Israel as you might expect. Watch carefully and you can see Arab opinion changing.

The real war is taking place in hearts and minds, the choice is between tyranny and freedom for the people of the Middle East. Freedom has a slightly better chance than it did at this time in 2001, but not by much. That folks, is George Bush's legacy. Not the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq, but the chance for oppressed peoples to choose freedom.

Despite everything that the United States has done, despite everything that the United States can do, it still comes down to a simple choice of people who don't like the United States very much. And for good reason. It's the biggest gamble in history.

I don't like most of the things that George Bush has done. But I do think liberty had to be planted. We're beginning to see the growing pains.

Israel is a target not because it is a great country, not because it is the "Zionist state," but because it's people are mostly free.

If it wasn't Israel, there would be no question about military justification. Tyrants have gotten used to free nations backing down when threatened.

The game is changing.
