Losing a little more freedom

New Treasury rules for mutual funds

Long time readers know that I've ranted against the income tax before.

I blame the income tax with overturning the principle of innocent until proven guilty.

I consider the income tax to be one of the top five abuses of government power.

And like many libertarians, I believe the 16th Amendment was the turning point when Americans lost the most freedom.

Look at your neighbors. Remember that in their name, the FedGov monitors your finances. Without an income tax, there is no need to report your income or moving cash between accounts.

At that point, the burden of proof that a crime has been committed falls back to the government, instead of you having to prove that you are innocent.

Well, they just took away more of your freedom. Mutual funds now have to report "suspicious" transactions.

All of this was made possible by the 16th Amendment.
