Student arrested for carrying flour in a condom


Files lawsuit when lab result is different from field test

This is one from last week that I meant to cover before my sinuses decided to rebel (peace negotiations are underway).

Granted, it was incredibly stupid to carry white powder in a condom in luggage.

HOWEVER...

(and I really want to stress that)

Why did the field test produce a positive result for opium and cocaine? Why wasn't the field test routinely confirmed at a lab?

And while I normally consider lawyers and class action suits an absolute last resort, I would say that every drug arrest made by that department over the last few years should be reviewed.

I really have to wonder what would have happened if the young lady had a public defender.
